About Noynoy

Noypipol is Noynoy Aquino’s official blog. It aims to provide the public with information regarding the Senator’s moves, stands and policies as soon as possible. It aims to be a source of voter education, and foster a forum of free discussion of issues relevant to the nation and in the upcoming elections. With no pre-approvals, accounts, or private forums, this blog strives to be open, transparent and a gathering place for healthy discussion.

Note: The entries on this blog are not personally posted by Noynoy Aquino.

Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” C. Aquino III has always viewed politics as a necessary vehicle for change, a perspective he formed early in life through the examples set by both of his parents.

In 1998, he ran for a seat in the House of Representatives and won. He would serve as Congressman of the 2nd District of Tarlac until 2007.

In his nine years at the Lower House, Noynoy focused on the fiscalizing role of a legislator. He felt that there were already too many laws, and good ones at that, but they seemingly lacked proper implementation. He concentrated on crafting laws that would help create opportunity rather than impose additional burdens to those who are already disadvantaged. He actively took part in budget deliberations to ensure that government initiatives do address the plight of the people who need help the most.

His commitment to continue the legacy of his parents was evident in his performance. In November 2004, he became Deputy House Speaker of Luzon, but he relinquished the post when he joined leaders of the Liberal Party (LP) in calling for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the height of the “Hello Garci” scandal. To him, it was easier to give up the position than abandon his duty to hold accountable those who do wrong.

In May 2007, he ran for Senator and won, placing 6th in the national elections. He chairs the Senate Committee on Local Government, and is also the vice-chairperson of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights. He had been determined to ensure that his key legislative initiatives would bear fruit and to see them through until the end of his term.

However, fate had other plans for him. The passing of his mother, former President Cory Aquino, stirred a long-dormant yearning for good leadership. Filipinos from all walks of life, here and abroad, began to look at Noynoy as the new hope for a better Philippines. The groundswell calling for him to run for President became too loud to ignore, and eventually overcame his reluctance.

In his letter from prison many years ago, Ninoy said to Noynoy, “Son, the ball is now in your hands.”

Today, the people want the future back into their own hands and Noynoy will not let them down.

His critics say he merely trades on his good name and skeptics consider him a lightweight. Rivals accuse him of wrongdoing despite a clearly unblemished record. Noynoy’s detractors have been busy trying to bring him down, but their efforts have only allowed him to improve his popularity.

Noynoy is an economist by education, a lawmaker by vocation. He is an audiophile, history buff, marksman and self-taught billiards sharpie. He is a loving brother and uncle, and a steadfast friend. He is also destined to be the one to finally lead our country towards a brighter future.

“There is no greater nation than our Motherland. No greater people than our own. Serve them with all your heart, with all your might and with all your strength.” – Ninoy Aquino in a letter to his only son Noynoy

I’m an avid supporter of Senator Noynoy Aquino, I’m very much willing to campaign for him in our community for his presidential bid. But honestly speaking, i’m not too happy about his current tv ad with sooo many showbiz personalities. Please senator noynoy, we’ve admired you before noong hindi ka pa napapaligiran ng ka-showbizan. Mas simple ka, mas gusto ka namin. Please don’t get any showbiz!

As the entire world changes everyday, let us all admit, politics as we know it has changed.

Dirty politicians use every means to gain votes, legal or illegal ways.If Mr.Noynoy will not use the same kind of tactics(yung legal at tama po ha Sir Noynoy?) such as using media and celebrities for his campaign, what kind of image will he have? How many voters will he have? How can he have the attention of millions of Filipinos?

He is not desperate for votes,i believe. But he is DECISIVE to win that is why he campaigns strongly.

I believe in change and progress.I believe that when you fight for what is right, you become decisive and brave.

Imagine if you were in Mr.Noynoy’s position and you have the resources to do many things for the country and for the people, wouldn’t you use it?

Kahit ako, makokonsensya at talagang lalaban nako.I can’t just stand by and do nothing if I am Sir Noynoy. My dad is a retired Phil.Navy officer and growing up under his principles,he instilled in me the sense of duty to my country(i joined the ROTC along with my brother at kahit parang tanga at baduy tingin sakin ng tao, tumatayo ako sa sinehan to honor the Lupang Hinirang as it played on-screen everytime).

What more with Mr.Noynoy, having Ninoy and Cory as his parents? That’s a whole new level.

But I told myself, even through comments sa facebook tska dito sa websites ni Mr.Noynoy,I could contribute to his campaign.

I believe na kahit sa simpleng comments na ganito,I could somehow do something for everybody in this country.I know that they will get to read my comments kahit saglit lang.Kahit mag-agree sila o hindi,at least binasa tapos pinag-isipan nila yung comments ko.

A lot of people that gave comments for Sir Noynoy, andaming requests or complaints about different issues.

Si Sir Noynoy, he is here to lead us if he becomes the president…

We have to be a part of his campaign and term kung talagang suportado natin siya.

…Our sense of nationalism, our pride, our identity as Filipinos.

BEING A TRUE AND PROUD FILIPINO IS A LIFESTYLE.

I was never an avid fund of the aquino family and to Kris also until Tita Cory died . During this death of the mother of democracy I realised how valuable she was, I realised that her death would probably means the end of the hope of Filipinos. She continuously watch the Philippine democracy , a democracy that she restored, that everytime she felt some political leaders wanted to betray our democracy she was always the frontliner in leading the fight against anybody wanting to destroy the democracy she gave to the Filipinos no matter how danger it was to lead the fights. She remained as watchdog for Filipinos until her death. She put her ” kababayans” first before anybody else including herself and family. Those who don’t seem to look this bis sacrifice she had done just simply ask your self ” Why was she participating in protest agaisnt any body accused of stealing instead of just living quitely and away from any stress and tensions? , Why would she want to protect her “kababayans ” against graft and corruptions, this was not her responsibility she has her own family and as long as her family is Okey then it she should be okey ? All these questions boil down to one answer ,becasuse she is not selfish and she was a true mother to all Filipinos who would fight if her children ( us Filipinos) will be treated like a dirt because
of the abuseby abusive leaders.Noynoy will continue this work I am very positive that he will be a good leader and be our hope for the nation. Good leaders are born .

Can he really make a difference?
Can he do something about the global warming problems that the world is facing? Can he be an advocate of a clean leaving philippines?
Can he do something about the increasing prizes of gas and basic commodities?
Just a thought, what if all the government vehicles be converted to bio fuels or a other less expensive environment friendly fuel, as well as the public utility vehicles or even private.Isn’t it a big savings? Can he make it happen?
Can he do something about the lavish and unnecessary expenses of the government? (e.g. US trips, useless road projects, Structures that only few can benefits.)
Can he stop the corruption in the government? Can he really change the way government is running? It’s not too much to ask is it? But Is he really the leader we badly needed?

The answer to your question is no. Noynoy will not manage to do them all. But the most important he can give us, if he wins the elections, is bring our trust back in the government. And THEN, perhaps, we, ourselves, will make the difference.

I think he can. The blood that runs in his veins are the blood of Ninoy and Cory Aquino who gave much of their life to the filipino people. He can solve the problems our country is currently facing because he has a passion to serve the people just like his parents. He won’t solve it in just a wink of an eye, but, he will certainly eliminate all of it. Let’s give him our trust by casting our votes for him. We need change to restore the dignity of the filipino people in the face of the world and Noynoy is an agent of change that we need…

A lot of people have this misconception that Noynoy will be the “panacea” for all the ills of our country. Don’t get me wrong. I am 100% for Noynoy. Our family has supported the Aquinos ever since Ninoy especially during his unjust detention. I was a participant of the EDSA Revolution that catapulted Tita Cory to the Presidency. Anyway, the point I’m trying to make here is, that the solution to our country’s problems lies in all of us. This reminds me of the late Pres. John F. Kennedy’s quote, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” The mentality of a lot of Filipinos is, “what can you do for me?” Why don’t we search within ourselves and harness our individual talents and see what we can offer for the good of the country? Even if he is elected President, which I pray to God he will be, Noynoy is just one person. It’s a Herculean task to police the government & turn the country upside down. It cannot be done overnight. It will take an act of God to turn this country’s course around. Needless to say, Noynoy will need the support or cooperation of every Filipino. Corruption is pervasive and widespread in all levels of our society. It’s destroying us from within. I’m actually in awe about what is keeping our country’s ship afloat. The Philippines is neck-deep in debt and shame. Not a Manny Pacquiao nor an Arnel Pineda can salvage our country from economic ruin. They’re too few and far between. Plus the rate of decay is faster than the rate of rebuilding. I’m not asking everyone to be a boxer or a singer but use your God-given talent or skill to contribute for the improvement of the country. Just like what the billboard sign says in Olongapo City during the mayorship of Richard Gordon, “Bawal Ang Tamad Sa Olongapo.”

Most of our elected officials especially those who already have corruption in their hearts & minds even before they assume their posts, become arrogant once they are in power. They think they are above the law and so they ravage the country’s coffers at will. They think the country owes them a debt of gratitude which can be compensated by public funds. They become blinded by their position of authority that it befogs their good judgment. I am sometimes impressed by the resiliency of our country. We need courageous people who will be “whistleblowers” if they see acts of wrongdoing. We used to take pride in being the most educated country in Asia. Where did we use that education for? We are the poorest country in SE Asia. The only people who are getting richer are the corrupt politicians who are immune to shame.

Lastly, in response to the lady who asked, “what can Noynoy do to the global warming?” Let’s start with you. What can you do about it? I know what I can do as an individual. We, as Filipinos, should’ve started with ourselves first a looooooong time ago. We cannot and should not think that the government will do everything for us. You don’t bring up your children to be dependent upon you forever. You train them to be assets, not liabilities. Unless the reverse is what you want.

pls. pass this on… if you want change in this Country…

Yes a NEW Era in Philippine Politics is about to Happen!!!

If We wanted a GENUINE Reforms / Free of Corruptions / Selfless Governance to the People / Country Above All policies / Honesty, Integrity and Transparency / Total Reforms / And a DEMOCRATIC, Patriotic, Sincere, and SIMPLE but Effective MORAL Leadership – WHO WILL LEAD US for the next 6 YEARS???

    LETS SUPPORT and VOTE !!!

NOYNOY and MAR Tandem in 2010 (Liberal Party President and V.President standard bearers) and all their Senatorial Candidates

TRULY they are the FRUITS of GOOD TREES – (mga mabubuting Bunga mula sa mabubuting Puno)

President Manuel Roxas founded the Liberal Party…. Senator Ninoy Aquino and Senator Gerry Roxas continue with their idealisms in the Liberal Party . . . and fought side by side against the Dictatorship of Marcos regime and President Cory Aquino restored and preserve the Phil. Democracy . . until her demise in Aug. 1, 2009

MAGKAISA Tayong LAHAT Para sa BAYAN!!! ITULOY ANG LABAN!!!

Ating IBOTO ang Tunay na PAGBABAGO at PAG-ASA ng BAYAN!!!

To you NoyNoy and Mar – we commend your statemanship by giving oneself and sacrifices for the greater Glory of God and our Country.. we truly believe to both of you that you wanted to have a Brighter and Progressive Philippines, enough of scandals / corruptions / excessive gov’t spendings / wrong governance .. etc. etc…

We knew that Sen. Mar had to step down despite of his early preparations from the presidency, and this is his ultimate sacrifice …. and We know Sen. Noynoy is not taking advantage of people’massive & outpouring of support and love for his mother’s death… despite all calls that he run for presidency ….

BUT Both of you had to sacrifice with your own personal agenda and had heart to heart talks and in the end both of you had One Thing in Common that is to come up with your own Vision and Mission for the Best interest of our people and our Beloved Pilipinas… and to be the BEST alternatives to our people…

Since Both of you have One Aspirations .. . One Goal … One Vision for the Country – WE would like Both of you to be our President and Vice President respectively…. So that all your goals and dreams for the Better and Good Philippines will come true – and this is for the sake of our children’s children…

As you have said – na di kayo mag iiwanang dalawa come hell or high water.. So please heed this call from all of us… Since if Ninoy had another VP then all his Good intentions to run the Country might not prosper.. it is better that you will be partners and show to us your program in the Liberal Party….which we truly believed in… Two (2) LP heads are better than One (1)….

Also, please always bear in mind of not appointing any of your relatives / kamag anaks to any sensitive positions in the Gov’t… avoid any anomalous transactions in your Gov’t…. and Always GOD above all….. eradicate or try to lessen the massive corruptions in the Gov’t… and please try appoint in your Cabinets and Department heads those people with unquestionable integrity…

So we suggest to all other Presidentiables to forego of their plans and if they really wanted to help this Country they should just step aside of their personal ambitions and make also their ultimate sacrifices by stepping down… and be of help as Cabinet members and/or Dept. Secretaries to the New Govt that is being form by Noynoy and Mar… Mar – this can be done and this is still doable) and be part of a Better Philippines…

    So LET’S Get this ON…..

    VOTE!!!

one Vision… one Goal… one Philippines

    AQUINO – ROXAS in 2010

We Shall Support you all the Way!!!

as Tita Cory puts it… “The Highest place in the World is still down at the Lord’s feet.”

This is just the tip of the iceberg:

Sen. Aquino believes that the country already has very good laws, and he used his time in legislature to perform the pivotal check and balance function of the legislature. The bills he filed were those he thought absolutely necessary

We have good laws, and we have quite a number of them. In fact, some countries have used some of our laws as basis for crafting their own legislation. What seems wanting is the right implementation, which is beyond the scope of the duties and responsibilities of the legislative branch.

I did craft bills which I felt were necessary, and whose attendant issues were not being given the attention they deserve (i.e. Maintenance bill, productivity incentives bill, etc.) Those who are criticizing me for what they deem a dismal legislative performance might want to go over my record and carefully review the bills I’ve filed.

Aside from making laws, legislators have the responsibility of ensuring that the check and balance system in our government is at work. I’d like to think that I was not remiss in my duties when I participated in the Senate investigations that sought to find closure in the many scandals confronting the current administration. (Probe Profiles)

      Senate Bills:

      * Senate Bill 1370 grants “an annual productivity bonus for all workers in the private sector.”

      * Senate Bill 2036 increases “the penalties for noncompliance of the prescribed increases and adjustments in the wage rates of workers.”

      * Senate Bill 2160, an amendment to the Government Reform Procurement Act, plugs loopholes that mega scams like the ZTE-NBN project and the CyberEd project slipped through. It’s a vaccine against deadly swine influence.

      * Senate Bill 2035 is a bill requiring contractors “to handle the regular maintenance and preservation for public infrastructure after the end of the project.” A contractor who skimps on the construction phase of a public infrastructure project eventually pays for it in higher maintenance and repair costs.

      * Senate Bill 2978 puts “parameters for the selection of PNP provincial directors and city/municipal chief of police for local government units” because personal discretion in law- enforcement matters is the root of corruption.

      * Senate Bill 1710 bans “the reappointment of a regular member of the Judicial and Bar Council who has already served a full term.”

      * Senate Bill 1719 limits “the reappointment of presidential nominees bypassed by the Commission on Appointments.”

      * Senate Bill 3121, or the Budget Impoundment Control Act, strengthens the Legislature’s power over how the Executive spends appropriations.

      * Senate Bill 2159 “adopts the doctrine of superior responsibility to all actions involving military personnel, members of the Philippine National Police and other civilians involved in law enforcement.”
